What signifigance does the bat logo have to Bacardi?

Why do they use a bat logo on the bottles of Bacardi Rum?|||Both of the above answers are correct there were bats in the building but the other important part was that at that time alot of people in Cuba were illiterate (not the case now for sure) so the Bacardi family also needed a symbol so the people could pick out their product without having to read the name.

Thus , the Bacardi bat was born|||"Moving from the experimental stage to a more commercial endeavor, he and his brother Jos茅 set up shop in a small distillery on February 4, 1862. Their first copper and cast iron still produced 35 barrels of fermented molasses per day. In the rafters of this building lived fruit bats. Hence, the Bacardi bat logo"

So i guess there were bats that lived in the first building that produced bacardi.|||According to the tour guides, it's because the warehouse they bought originally, had a bunch of bats in it. The owner's wife thought it would make a cool logo.

Gee... and to think I remembered that useless bit of trivia from 30 some years ago, and I can't remember my best-friend's name most days! lol
